Free Habit Tracker PDF: 8 Printable Templates to Download
Most "free printable" habit trackers send you through three websites and an email sign-up before you get a file. These don't. Below are eight habit tracker PDFs we designed ourselves, each in A4 and US Letter. Click a link and the PDF opens, ready to print.
They're built to print cleanly on a home printer: mostly white, thin lines, and just a touch of colour. The minimalist version uses no colour at all.

How to get the most out of a paper habit tracker
A printed tracker only works if you actually fill it in. These habits make the difference:
Put it where the habit happens. A tracker in a drawer gets forgotten. Tape the weekly sheet next to your toothbrush, on the fridge or above your desk.
Start with two or three habits. Every template has room for more, but a short list you finish beats a long list you abandon.
Mark it immediately. Tick the box right after the habit, not at the end of the day. It doubles as a small reward.
Never miss twice. Missing one day is normal. The goal is to make sure a miss doesn't turn into a new pattern, which is why the 30-day challenge asks for your comeback plan up front.
Review it weekly. Five minutes looking at the sheet tells you which habits are working and which need a smaller version.
Writing progress down isn't just a nice ritual. A meta-analysis of 138 studies found that monitoring progress helps people reach their goals, and the effect was stronger when progress was physically recorded.
How long should you track a habit?
Thirty days is a good first commitment, but most habits take longer to feel automatic. In a UCL study of how habits form, it took participants a median of 66 days for a new daily behaviour to reach peak automaticity, with a wide range between people and habits. Treat the 30-day challenge as a strong start, then keep going on a weekly or monthly sheet.
Paper or app?
Paper is great for one to three habits and for people who like the physical act of ticking a box. It gets harder when you track more, want reminders, or travel. If that's you, read our comparison of paper habit trackers vs apps, or see the best habit tracker apps of 2026.
Many people use both: a printed weekly tracker at home and an app for reminders. If you're on iPhone, Kabit gives you the same one-tap check-in with streaks, reminders and home-screen widgets, and it's free to download.
